Sree Vishveshwara Temple, located in West
Yakkara, Palakkad, Kerala, is a renowned Hindu temple devoted to Lord Shiva,
the Lord of the World. Established by the esteemed Sri Narayana Guru in the
early 1900s, it stands as one of Palakkad's oldest temples. This sacred temple,
under the administration of priests from the Ezhava caste, serves as a focal
point for various local ceremonies, particularly weddings. Adjacent to the
temple, there is an auditorium and a wedding hall, fully equipped to facilitate
weddings, complete with a stage, decorative elements, seating arrangements, a
dining hall, a cooking area, and ample parking space. As you approach the
temple, you'll
more
be greeted by a vibrant temple arch at the entrance adorned with
stucco depictions of the Shiva family. Upon passing through this arch and walking
a short distance, you'll reach another arch leading to the temple itself. The
Sree Vishveshwara Temple observes Shivaratri with great pomp and grandeur.
Nearby, there is a pond, which, during my visit, was adorned with hyacinths,
adding to the temple's serene atmosphere. Access to the temple is convenient
via local transportation options, such as buses and auto-rickshaws. Notably,
the land for this temple was generously provided by the Thottingal family, and
its founding members also hailed from the same family
