Elamannam Sree Sankaranarayana Swamy Temple,
situated in Elamannam, Thenkurissi, is one of the oldest temples in the
Palakkad District. The uniqueness of this sacred temple lies in the fact that
it is one of the rare temples in Kerala where Sree Sankara Narayana Swamy
appears as "SWAYAMBHOO." This temple is located 12 kilometers south
of Palakkad town and is a significant place for experiencing the ancient
rituals of Hindu mythology. The idol worshipped in the temple represents both
Lord Sankara and Lord Vishnu. The temple's "Arrattu" festival is

traditional rituals. The main festivals at this temple include Shivarathri,
Utsavam, Udayasthamanapooja, Navarathri, and Ayyapanpattu. The principal priest
of the temple is Sri. Andaladi Narayanan Namboodiripad, and Sri Sankaranarayan
Namoodiri serves as the Melsanthi of this historic temple. Experts believe that
this temple has a history spanning several centuries.The temple falls under the
jurisdiction of the Malabar Devaswam Board and is currently managed by Trustee
& Manager Sri. P. K. Raman Namoodiripad, with Sri. P. V. Rajesh as the
temple incharge and local committee members. During the Utsavam, the local
Utsava committee oversees the celebrations. Meenam - Pooyam (Pushyam) marks the
beginning of the Utsavam at this temple. The main offerings at the temple
include Rudrabhishekam, Trimaduram, Payasam, Dhaara, Mrithyunjaya Homam,
Ganapathy Homam, Archana, and more.
