The Narayanath Sree Mahavishnu Temple, originally known as the Narayana Mangalam Mahavishnu Temple, holds a rich history. It is believed that Naranth Bhranthan, renowned as "Naranath the Mad" and a prominent member of the Parayi Petta Panthirukulam, established the temple through the process of 'prathishta.' Naranath Bhranthan's upbringing is said to have occurred in Naranath Mangalam, situated in Palakkad. Over time, the residents of Narayanamangalam illam are believed to have migrated, and the illam now stands in Rayaranellur desam. Consequently, the temple underwent a name change from Narayana Mangalam Mahavishnu Temple to Narayanath Sree Mahavishnu Temple. The temple had Uraymakar, who were associated with the Naduvathra more illam in Chalakudy, Kidangazhiyeth illam, and the Kodakara kavil desath Padinjare kunnath illam. Historical records indicate that many properties of the Narayanath Devaswom, which existed centuries ago, had fallen into the hands of others and had fallen into disrepair. Subsequently, the Narayanath Sreemahaavishnu Temple Trust initiated various efforts to rejuvenate and develop the temple. These efforts included the purification of the shrines, the installation of the Krishna stone inside the temple, the consecration of the deities, and the dedication of the Naga devathas. This temple holds immense historical significance and is a must-visit destination at least once in a lifetime.
