This Narasimhamoorthy temple is very ancient. The place where the temple stands was inhabited by Nambodiris in the past. The main deity here is Narasimhamoorthy in the gentle form after he had been calmed by the praise rendered by his boy devotee Prahlada. The main deity faces the west in the rounded sanctum. It is believed that it was in the Thretha yuga that such circular sanctums were used for the consecration of Vishnu. Hence it is impossible to ascertain the real age of the temple. Ganapathy, Ayyappan, Dakshinaamoorthy and Bhagavathy are the subordinate deities. Today devotees see this temple as one that answers prayers more on education, performing arts and for being blessed with children.
