At the spot where the Sree Rama temple stands
today near the Punnaykkal Devi temple, there used to be a centuries old temple
dedicated to Sree Rama. This was the oldest temple in Elamakkara. This temple
was destroyed during the attack by the army of Tippu Sultan. What was saved
from the temple was found in the pond near it. On astrological consultation, it
was found that the effulgence of Sree Rama was present there. Recently the
presence of Lord Anjaneya was also revealed and a temple for the Lord was also
constructed. The new temple displays the beauty of mural paintings to the
utmost.
