This temple, believed to be more than 600 years old has the deity in the form of four armed Mahavishnu. Legends say that there is a close connection between this temple and the Ambalapuzha Sree Krishnaswamy temple. Devotees believe that at the Pantheeradi puja, Lord Krishna from Ambalapuzha comes to this temple. It is also believed that it was Sree Vilwamangalath Swamiyar who brought the idol from Ambalapuzha and consecrated it here. Today it functions like a Mahakshethra with five pujas and three shivelis . It was under the Edapally Swaroopam for a long time. Now it is managed by the Kshethra Kshema Samithy.
