Ambadathu Malika Ayyappa Sannidhanam

History

This holy place known as ‘Ambadathu Malika’ which has the presence of Sree Ayyappa is only 3 kms away from Kalady, the birth place of Adi Sankara. It is in this place that the “Bhasma Sanchi” and ‘Mudravadi’ received by a devotee has been kept for the past 1½ centuries. It is believed that if we have Darshan of the ‘Basma Sanchi and Mudra Vadi’ all problems created due to ‘Sani Dosha’ can be removed. Kesava Pilla of Ambadath Malika, a great devotee of Swami Ayyappa went to Sabrimala.  It is he who brought the Bhasma Sanchi and Mudra Vadi to his ancestral house. Kesava more Pilla who had gone to Trivandrum was not able to return to ‘Ambadath Malika’ to join other devotees who were going to Sabarimala on 19th of Dhanu.  So, after returning he went alone because the other devotees had already left. He went on 29th Dhanu to attend the ‘Makara Vilakku’. During his journey to Sabarimala, on the way he met a middle-aged Brahmin going to Sabarimala. They travelled together and by evening reached a temple and decided to have Darshan. The Brahmin entered the temple after handing over the ‘Bhasma Sanchi’ and Mudra vadi to Kesava Pilla. He waited for the Brahmin to return and fell asleep due to fatigue. He heard someone calling out to him and when he opened his eyes he was standing along with other devotees near the ‘Pathinettam Padi’ of Sree Sabarimala.  He went up the 18 steps and had Darshan of the Lord.  While he was standing there not knowing what to do with the ‘Bhasma Sanchi’ and ‘Mudra Vadi’ he once again saw the Brahmin who had travelled with him.  He told Kesava Pilla to take the ‘Bhasma Sanchi’ and ‘Mudra Vadi’ to his ancestral home ‘Ambadath malika’ and to install them there.  He also said that those who have Darshan of the ‘Bhasma Sanchi’ and ‘Mudra Vadi’ will not be influenced by’ Sani Dosha’. After speaking to Kesava Pilla the Brahmin disappeared. It is believed that Lord Saneeswaran is also pleased with those who go there for Darshan.  Since the presence of ‘Malikapurathu Bhagawathy is also there, devotees believe that obstacles related to marriage can be removed by Darshan here.  During the time of ‘Mandalam’ Darshan is possible as per the timings of Sabarimala.  At other times from 1st to the 5th of every Malayalam month from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 7.30 p.m. it is possible to have Darshan. Those who take the Vibhuti Prasadam from here and use it with ‘Vrata Shuddhi’ for 21 days can overcome the effects of ‘Sani Dosha’. The 1st Saturday of each Malayalm month is considered to be every auspicious. Two years ago, the place was kept open for devotees to have Darshan under the presence of the Tanthri and Melshanti of Sabarimala. This place has become popular as a resting place for those who go to Sabarimala. We can reach ‘Ambadath Malika’ by getting into the Kalady-Manjapra bus. Angamaly-Manjapra, Angamali Plantation bus, one has to get down at the Chandrapura junction. The Ayyappa Chakkra after 41 days Prana Prathishtha is available here.
