Sree Pillayar Kovil was consecrated in the year 1835 by the Tamil Vellala Community. It is situated in the heart of Kannur Town, less than 1 k.m. from Kannur Railway Station. The main deity is Sree Varasidhi Vinayagar. The other deities in the temple are Sree Maha Vishnu, Nataraja, Subramania, Ayyappa, Hanuman and Nagaraja. Sree Pillayar Kovil is the first temple in the Malabar region to have the Navagraha Prathishta. Poojas are performed as per Tamil Custom. The special poojas that are conducted are the Navagraha Pooja, Sankata Hara Chathurthi Pooja and Thiruvilakku Pooja on Pournami Days.
