This temple is in Trichur district. It is 3½ miles from Kunnamkulam towards Punnayoorkulam route. It is one of the famous temples in Kerala where the largest numbers of elephants participate during the temple festival. The temple is situated near large sprawling fields. As a result, it is convenient to have long rows of elephants and to conduct fireworks. There are other entertainments such as Kavadi, different musical instrumental concerts, fireworks etc. The temple festival takes place (Pooram festival) on the first Sunday after 'Makara Chowva'. Legend: The main deity here is Badrakali. Years ago, a 'Velichapad who was a great devotee of Kodungaloor Bhagavathy, during
more his journey happened to take rest in Anjoor Thottaplaya Mana for his noon meal. He had his sword and anklets. He gave it to the ladies in the mana to be kept safe. They kept it safely in the 'Nadumittam' of the illom. When the velichapadu wanted to go after his noon meal and asked for his anklets and sword, the women found that it had disappeared. Soon after, the women heard the voice of the Bhagavathy saying that she was going to stay there. That is how the name Parkadi was given to the place. Later on, the Shanta Bhava of Kodungaloor Bhagavathy was installed in the illom. After many generations when small pox spread as an epidemic in the area, the Bhagavathy was installed in a temple, where she remains even today as the 'Desha Devata'. But the 'Moolasthanam is still in the Nadumittam of the illom. She is a deity who showers Her blessings and gives whatever the devotee prays to her. The punaprathishta was in 1991. This was conducted in the month of Mithunam on 'Chithira Nakshatra'. This is celebrated as the Pratishtadinam'. The main offerings here are Naipayasam and ghee lamp. It is said that no ants are seen in the ghee lamps in the temple premises. Because of that this is considered as a special offering. Main offerings: Chuttuvilakku, Poomoodal, Niramala, Ghee lamps, Pushpanjali etc. are the main offerings of this famous temple.
