Poikattussery Kurumba Bhagavathy Temple

History

This temple is situated in Nedumbassery Panchayath of Ernakulam District. It is 1.5 km to the northwest on Athani Angamaly PWD Road off NH47. The self-originated idol of Bhadrakali here is the biggest to be found in Central Kerala. Navagrahas (the nine planets) are consecrated here in a round Sanctum Sanctorum. Cheriya Bhadrakali is consecrated facing east inside the temple. Outside Brahmarakshas, Khandakarnan and Nagaraja are consecrated. On Tuesdays and Fridays, Guruthi of 12 vessels is offered to the Goddess. On the last Friday of the month of Makaram, there is Thalapoli and Mudiyettu Utsavam. The Sarpa Bali offered in the month of Karkidakam is also more an important occasion. For the Navagrahas consecration day is celebrated on the star Rohini in the month of Makaram. On the first Saturday of every Malayalam month,

Saneeswarasathanamarchana is conducted in the evening.
