The temple dedicated to Lord Lakshmana is situated at Moozhikulam in Parakadavu panchayath of Ernakulam district. The presiding deity who is facing east is installed in a round sanctum sanctorum. Daily three poojas conducted and the tantric rituals are done by Pattomthiruthy Mana. The temple was destroyed by the invasion of Tippu Sultan and after 45 years it was renovated by Sree Chithira Thirunal Maharaja. The history of this temple is related to Vakkayil Kaimal, who was a very prominent ruler in Ponnani taluk. The fishermen fishing out in the sea, caught a very big fish, and they brought the fish to show Vakkayil Kaimal, more they cut open its stomach, and found four stone idols belonging to the Dwapara age. This phenomenon was analyzed through astrological prasnam and found out that the idols were the ones adored by Lord Krishna and was the idols of Sree Rama, Bharath, Lakshmana and Shathrughana, sons of Dhasharatha. The idol of Sree Rama was installed at Thriprayar, Bharath at Irinjalakuda, Lakshmana at Moozhikulam and Shathrughna at Payyammel on a very same single day.
