Thiruvallam Sree Parasurama Temple

History

One of the oldest temples in Kerala, in Thiruvallam of Thiruvanathapuram District. Two main deities are there in the temple. Parasurama was installed by Swamy Sankaracharya and self-originated Lord Siva is the legendary deities of the temple. Temple is in the banks of river Thiruvallam. This great temple has five poojas daily. Thantric is done by Aymanam and sub deities are, Matsyamoorthy, Sreekrishna, Ganapathy, Vyasan, Subrahmanyan and Brahma. The Brahma here is sitting in Patmasana with two hands in yogamudra and other hands holding with Kamandalu and Thamara (Lotus). Lord Siva faces east, Parasurama and Brahma sits facing north and Ganapathy faces west. Siva and Parasuram more have flag poles and festival is from Atham star of month Thulam after Aarattu.
