The Mathikkunnu Bhagavathy is worshipped as the Goddess of the earth, ever ready to bless the devout and punish the sinners. Similarly, the sanctum of Lord Subrahmanya was dedicated to the Lord by a Muslim devotee. The power of the goddess becomes more and more pronounced with the customary rituals being performed at the appropriate time under the guidance of Tantri Brahmasri Puliyanoor Aniyan Namboothiripad.  Mathikkunnu Kshaetra Kshaema Samiti built the temple in the land given by the Paliyam Group Devaswam and has been looking after the day to day affairs of the temple. Members belonging to about 800 families living in Trikkoor, Ponnookkara and Kalloor meet every three years to elect a 40-member governing body of the Kshaetra Kshaema Samiti.
