The history of this temple is different from other temples of Gowda Saraswath Brahmins. Usually the GSB temples were constructed by those who fled from Goa with their Gods in order to keep the culture and tradition of the community. But Sree Rajagopala Krishna Swami temple was con- structed by a traditional family to overcome the curse of Brahmins. Vishnu along with Rukmini and Satyabhama is consecrated and installed in the temple in the Makayiram star of 8th Edavam 1024 (1849). With the consecration of this temple the families of Saraswaths began to prosper and now around 250 familieslive here. The temple was blessed by
more the presence of His Holiness Srimad Sudeendra Theertha Swamiji in 1132 (1957) when he observed his first Chathurmasa Vritham and in 1164(1989) for Hrisotsavam. The festival is in the month of Falguna starting on Karthika day for 8 days and ending on Makam day with Aaratu. The Sub-deities are Hanuman whose temple is situated in south easten side, Mahaganapathy whose temple is in south west inside Nalambalam, Snake Gods whose temple is located south east of Hanuman Kovil. Sri A.Janardhana Rao of Perumpalli Padinjare Madom donated a Panchaloha idol of Mahalakshmi to be used during festivals and special days. From 1113 onwards according to the Temple Administration of Cochin Devaswom Acts, a five members committee is managing the affairs of this temple each for a 3-year period.
