The time old Sree Vaikkarakavu Bhagavathi temple is situated in Vaikara Village, about 10 kms to the east of Perumbavoor town in Ernakulam district. Blessing devotees and annihilating the wicked, the Goddess reigns supreme. Thousands are convinced by experience that pious and humble devotees, devoid of pride and ego, worshipping there daily have realized their wishes. It is believed that the divine presence here has been brought down centuries ago from Kottiyoor of repute. The temple is now being renovated. It is told that last renovation was nearly thousand years ago. This temple originally belonged to Karimattathu Kartha family. Now the temple is owned and administered by
more Karimattathu Sree Bhagavathy Trust. Kottiyur Thanthri Brahmasree Thekkedath Marathompally Sankaran Namboothiry is the Thantri of the temple. Vidyarambam, Nira-Puthari, Meena Bharani, Prathishta Mahotsavam are celebrated annually. Kalamkarickal, Valiyaguruthy, Swayamvara Pushpanjali, Sarkara-Kurumulaku Nivedyam are some of the special offerings to Bhagavathy.
