Sree Punathil Nrayana Swamikal had a temple at Ernakulam dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya. This had to be shifted from there as the land was acquired for the development of the MG Road. So, Narayana Swamikal entrusted the stone idol to the Dheevara community at Puthuvaipp and built a small thatched temple. Later the temple was renovated and made into a tiled structure which became a place for the fisher folk to gather and pray. In the 1970s it was further modified. But the Tsunami that lashed the coast in 2006 damaged the temple. So, it was decided to rebuild it in 2018. This temple more is referred to as Samudra Pazhani.
