On the Kottayam-Changanassery route, 1½ km from Thuruti Jn. on the way to Kavalam in the Sasthangal Junction this holy Devasthanam is situated. 21 different idols of Ganapathi representing various Bhavas (expressions) are worshipped here. Devotees can have darshan only the idol of Siddhi Vinayaka Bhava. The other idols of Ganapati with different Bhavas which are worshipped in a traditional Arappura can be seen only by the Poojaris and Thantris. Vigneswara Bali is a special ritual that is conducted once every three months. It is the Upasana- Moorthy of Thuruthi Puthumana Illom and Pooja and Thantram are done by the Illom itself. Maha Ganapathy is worshipped in a separate
more Manthrika-pura of the illom. The annual festival is Vinayaka Chaturthi. Karuga Moodal for curing diseases, Ganapathi Prathal for the fulfilment of desires, Ganapathiyoottu for removal of obstacles in marriage and Ganeshasadhya for prosperity and removal of enemies etc have brought fame to this Devasthanam. People from far and away come here to get rid of mental diseases by performing Vigneswara Bali. The pendants (Elas) received from here, known as Ganeshayantras have miraculous power and are said to be very effective. Puthumana Maheswaran Namboothiri is the Melshanti (The Chief Priest) of this temple and Puthumana Iswaran Namboothiri is the Thantri and Puthumana Manu Namboothiri is the trustee of this famous Devasthanam.
