The temple is situated at Azheekkal, on Vypeen – Munambam route in Ernakulam district. The main deity is Lord Siva as Mallikaarjuna. (Siva and Parvathy). In the 16th century, when the Portuguese persecuted the local people in Goa and forced them to convert to Christianity, the Kudumbi community escaped from there. They carried their deity Mallikarjuna with them. The original temple of Mallikarjuna is at Sree Shailam in Andhra Pradesh. The temple at Vypeen has been relocated three times. The ancestor who brought the deity to Vypeen has been consecrated as Guru here. The deity faces the east. Sub-deities are Murugan, Ayyappan, Ganapathy, Bhagavathy and more Nagas. Mahavishnu has also been consecrated as Bharadevata. The temple is under Azeekkal Kudumbi Mahajana Sabha.
