This ancient temple is situated at Thodupuzha in Idukki District. It stands on the banks of the Thodupuzha river. The huge Gopuram (ornamental gateway) is constructed in the Tami style and is four storeys high. There is a statue of Siva and Parvati in the middle of it. When viewed from a particular angle the serpent around the Lord’s neck seems to move and the water of the Ganga seems to flow. In the Anakkottil (place for the elephants to stand) the stone pillars are magnificently carved. Figures are carved on the front of the platform in front of the sanctum as well as on
more the sanctum. Siva linga is consecrated in the sanctum as Uma Maheswara. Ganapathy is just outside the sanctum and Amruthakala Shaasthaa, Durga, Mookaambil Devi, Nagaraja and Nagayakshi are the sub-deities.
