This temple is at Maradu in Ernakulam district. Legends proclaim that a great scholar and magician Konnan Muthappan, an ardent devotee of the Goddess, brought the power from Kodungalloor. He consecrated the power at Kannanthraparambu in Maradu. Then in a flood, the place was inundated and the place where the Goddess had been consecrated rose up as an island. The people there were devotees of the Goddess and Ghandakarnan. This is one of the few temples where the Goddess faces the north.
