Anad Sree Chamundeswary Temple is one of the ancient temples in southern Kerala. It is in the Nedumangad village of Thiruvananthapuram district. In ancient times, the ancestors used to offer worship to family deities like Yogeeswaran and Manthraamurthy under a tree. Then the presence of a Yakshi nearby caused diseases and various troubles for the people. To control this, the powerful Sree Chamundeswary Devi was consecrated. Chamundeswary Devi is believed to have emerged from the forehead of Sree Durga Devi to destroy Chanda and Munda. This was the origin of the Anad Sree Chamundeswari Devi temple. There is also the
more legend that Devi took the form of Chamundeswary to destroy Ruru. Later, the temple came to be under a trust, and the temple was renovated with idols made of Krishna shila. Thottilveypp by married couples to beget children is an important offering. Guruthy pooja is offered on all full moon days. Special pooja is offered on the day of the birth of the devotee. Daily pooja to Chamudeswari Devi and the subordinate deities, as well as Udayasthamana pooja, is also offered. Ganapathy, Thamburan, Yakshiyamma, Yogeeswaran, Manthramurthy and Nagas are the subordinate deities. The annual festival lasts for 7 to 10 days in connection with Pathaamudayam in the month of Medam. The day of the star Uthram in the month of Midhunam is celebrated as the consecration day. Navarathri and Vinayaka Chaturthi are also celebrated.
