This temple is at Eravipuram. The main deity
consecrated here is Lord Subrahmanya (Dandayudhapani). Ganapathy and Hidumbaswami
are the subordinate deities. This is the only temple in Kerala with a
consecration for Hidumbaswami. According to legend, Iravipuram Vanchiyil Kochu
Kunju Muthalali brought a photo of Lord Subrahmanya from Palani in 1940. He
started offering puja before that. Later, he built a small temple and
consecrated a wooden idol of Lord Subrahmanya that he had brought from
Palani. Later, a stone idol was consecrated. In 1953, he gave the temple to the
local devotees. A committee of devotees now runs the temple. The committee took
the initiative
more
to rebuild the temple ten years ago. Sundays and Tuesdays are important
days for the Lord. The annual festival is in connection with Thaipuyam in the
month of Makaram. Shashti every month is observed with special rituals. The most
important Shashti is Skandashashti in the month of Thulam. Hidumban oottu is
offered every month.
