This famous temple is at Maravanthuruthu in Vaikam taluk, about 1km to the east of the Chembu Toll Junction. The Gandharva, referred to as Swami by the devotees, is in the family house of Neelakanda Pilla, who was the Sarvadhi Karyakar during the reign of Visakham Thirunal Maharaja of Travancore. Previously, the consecration was inside the residence. Later, Gandharva as well as two Yakshiyammas were consecrated in a temple. That consecration has today come to be considered as that of Lakshmynarayana also. Legend says that the Chief Priest of the temple, Damodaran Namboothiri of Puthumana illam, had never more offered worship to a Gandharva. So, when he first entered the sanctum, he prayed to the Lord to tell him in which form to offer worship, and he saw the Lord as Vishnu. The Lord used to manifest himself in his devotee and give advice to the people. The Gandharva Pooja offered here is believed to remove any obstacles in the path of a happy married life. Ganapathy, Ayyappan, Thrupurasundaridevi and Vellambhagavathy are consecrated as subordinate deities. Brahmarakshass and Yogeeswaran are also consecrated here. The group of Nagas, including Nagaraja, Nagayakshy, Maninagam, Kuzhinagam, Paranagam and Karinagayakshiyamma, are present in this temple. Different offerings are made for all the Nagas. The day of the star Rohini in the month of Medam is celebrated as the consecration day. Thalapoly by the devotees comes to the temple on the day of the annual festival. Ramayana recital is conducted every day during the month of Karkadakam. Vinayaka chathurthi, Navarathri, and special rituals during Mandala are all observed in this temple. Lakshaarchana, Poomoodal, Appam moodal for Ganapathy, Gandharva pooja, Sarppa bali and Udayasthamana pooja are some of the important offerings here.
