This temple was first in the Malappuram
district and later relocated to Krodhamangalam, Plappilly, in Ernakulam
District. The Santhanagopala Moorthy idol is unique as it depicts Maha Vishnu
carrying a child in one hand. The old idol, which had been damaged, was replaced
with a Panchaloha idol. The place got this name as Maha Vishnu is seen here in
the form in which he appeared before Arjuna to pacify him after he had declared
his intention to kill himself if he could not fulfil what he had promised a Brahmin
and get his children back. Ganapathy and Bhagavathy are consecrated as
subordinate deities.
