Vadakkottukavu Sree Dharma Sastha Temple, situated in Karavaram village of Chirayinkeezhu Taluk in Thiruvananthapuram district, is an ancient and revered shrine dedicated to Lord Dharma Sastha, worshipped as the divine protector and bestower of blessings in the Kaliyuga. Devotees firmly believe in the grace and miraculous blessings of Vadakkottappan, seeking his protection, prosperity, and spiritual guidance. The temple is renowned for the grand Vadakkottukavu Pooram, an annual festival featuring colourful processions, traditional temple arts, music, and cultural performances that attract devotees from across Kerala. The shrine is especially famous for rituals believed to alleviate the adverse effects of Saturn (Shani), more with offerings such as Neeranjanam, Nagaroot, and Mrityunjaya Homam performed to overcome Shani Dasha, Ezharasani, Kandakasani, and Ashtamasani. Other major observances include the Mandala–Makaravilakku Mahotsavam, Lakshadeepam, Thaipooyam, Navaratri, Ayyappan Vilakku, and special poojas conducted on Saturdays and the first day of every Malayalam month, making the temple an important centre of faith and devotion in the region.
