This temple is at Thamarassery, in Kozhikode
district. It is on Pathinettam mile – Kallaramkettu road. The effulgence of
Sree Rama, with his companions as he appears after his coronation as the King
of Ayodhya, is the main consecration here. Worshipping here is considered
equivalent to visiting the four temples of Rama, Lakshmana, Bharatha and Shathrugna
as all four of them are present here in effulgence. Goshalakrishnan is also
consecrated with equal importance. Bhagavathy, Ganapathy, Ayyappan and a
Sarppakavu are the subordinate consecrations here. The temple was under the
control of the brahmins here for more than one thousand years. Then the temple
had to be
more
closed as there was a difference of opinion among them. The idol was broken, and the roof of the
sanctum caved in. In 1998, the temple was handed over to the local devotees. Now
a trust manages the affairs of the temple. A new idol was made and
reconsecrated in 2002. As the Lord is
seen as the Emperor, the idol is not taken out of the temple in a procession.
The temple is open from 6 in the morning to 9.30 and from 5 in the evening to
7. Karkidaka vavu, Sree Rama Navami in Meenam, Thrikarthika in Vrischikam,
Mandala period, and consecration day on the day of star Chothi in the month of
Edavam are the main festival days.
