Payam Vishnu Shathrugna temple is on the Iritti –
Peravoor road in Kannur district. The round sanctum is a unique feature of this
ancient temple. Though the temple had
been in a dilapidated state for a long time, astrological consultations
revealed that the effulgence is still very strong. The idol is depicted with the Sudarshana chakram held aloft in one hand as the Lord is coming back victorious
from battle. The temple is open from 5.30 to 9 in the morning every day. It is open for worship in the evening on all
Thursdays. During the month of Karkidakam, the temple remains open
more
till noon and
again from 5 in the evening. The
offering of Chakra is a main feature here.
