This temple is at Nenmeni, Sultan Bathery in
Wayanad district. It is believed to be centuries old. Before it was destroyed
by the army of Tippu Sultan, this had been a famous temple. Though the temple
structure and the idol had been destroyed, the place continued to retain the
effulgence of the divine presence. Devotees going to Sabarimala used to come
here for the ritualistic filling of the things to be taken there. A group of
local devotees built a small Balalayam. In 1989, it was rebuilt with a square
sanctum for the Sivalinga. Siva is worshipped as Uma Maheswara here. The outer

walls depicting the different Shaiva characters. Uma Maheswara Puja and
Mruthyunjaya manthram are special offerings to the lord. Important celebrations
occur during the 41-day Mandalam, the month of Karkidakam, Shivarathri and
Sreekrishna Jayanthy.
