This temple is on the Nambidi kunnu on Palakkad
– Kulappully highway in Lakkidi. Though people of four generations remember
this temple, many details were revealed in the astrological consultations held
in 2007. The consecration is that of the calm Narasimhamoorthy, seated with
Lakshmy Devi on his lap, after the killing of Hiranyakashipu. Such
consecrations are rare in Kerala. The temple is considered to be between 600
and 800 years old. The idol made of Krishna shila had suffered some damage but
had not lost its effulgence. So, it was used for reconsecration. It is believed
that the temple suffered damage during the invasion by
more
the army of Tipu
Sultan. The temple had a rich and illustrious past before that. The remains of
the buildings could be seen there. The pond in front of the temple with broad
steps had been almost filled up. A group of people, called Nambidis, who
originated from Karnataka, is believed to have constructed the old temple. The
area where the temple stands is known as Nambidikunnu even today. The roof of
the sanctum bears marks of repair sometime in the past. For 35 years, the rice,
oil, wicks, and other things required for the pujas in the temple had been given
by the family of Kallam Kandath Govindankutty Nair and his family. This
continued till the new committee took charge of the temple. The renovation
committee was formed in 2006, and regular pujas were started in 2007. Now it is
the Akavoor Lakshmy Narasimha Moorthy Kshethra Bharana Samithy that manages the
temple. Ayyappa and Ganapathy were consecrated in 2018. Every day after the
evening puja, the devotees circumambulate the temple, reciting prayers.
Vinayaka Chathurthi, Sree Krishna Jayanthy, Narasimha Jayanthy, Navarathri,
Vishu, Akshaya Thritheeya, Deepavali, Karthika Vilakk and Guruvayoor Ekadashi
are observed in this temple with special rituals.
