Sree Nagaraja Temple, Kumaranalloor, is one of the prominent serpent temples in Kerala, situated in the village of Kumaranalloor in Kottayam district. The temple was reconstructed and underwent Punaprathishta in 1978, and the first Thiruvutsavam was celebrated in 1979. The Upasana Moorthies of the temple—Sree Nagaraja, Nagayakshi, and Nagamatha were entrusted by Ullanur Illom to the Tamil Viswakarma devotees to bless the land with their eternal divine presence. The Madura Illom holds the right to perform the poojas in the temple, while the Kadiyakkol Illom has the authority over the Thanthrika Karmam. Poojas are conducted throughout the year, and the temple later came under the care of Viswakarma
more goldsmith families who migrated from Shankarkovil in Tirunelveli District of Tamil Nadu during the renovation of the famous Kumaranalloor Devi Temple. The deities worshipped here are regarded as the Upasana Moorthies of these goldsmith families. In the early years, poojas were conducted only annually, but after the renovation in 1978, monthly poojas began to be performed regularly. Ayilyam Nakshathram is considered the principal day dedicated to Nagaraja, and special poojas are conducted every month on this star as offerings by devotees, with the Ayilyam poojas in the Malayalam months of Kanni and Thulam being especially significant. The annual festival of the temple is celebrated during the Punartham, Pooyam, and Ayilyam Nakshatrams in the month of Thulam, and a grand procession is held on the evening of Punartham Nakshatram. The presiding deity of the temple is Sree Nagaraja, with Nagayakshi and Nagamatha as the sub-deities.
