Kidangamparampu Sree Bhuvaneswary Temple is an ancient and renowned Devi temple located in Kidangamparampu, Alappuzha. It is one of the very few temples in Kerala to possess a Raja Gopuram, second only to the famed Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in this distinction. Devotees from various regions and communities visit the temple seeking the blessings and grace of Goddess Bhuvaneswary. The presiding deity is Sree Bhuvaneswary, with sub-shrines for Ganapathy, Sastha, Balakrishnan, Subrahmanyan, and Navagraha within the sanctum precincts. Outside the temple are installed Siva, Kodum Kali, Veerabhadra, Brahmarakshas, a monk associated with Saktheya pooja, and Devi’s disciple Vellupillai. The temple’s lower level is dedicated to serpent deities, and even
more today, the sanctum doors are opened only after conch blowing and camphor offering are performed twice before them. Three major festivals are celebrated here. The Prathishta Dinam festival is observed from Medam 9 to 17, featuring the traditional Parackezhunellippu procession. During the 41-day Mandala season, Kalabham and Vilakku offerings are conducted, culminating in an eight-day festival with flag hoisting and the grand Arattuzhunnellippu procession. Eminent artists and musicians perform during these celebrations. Navarathri is also observed with great devotion, drawing lakhs of devotees to the temple every year to receive the blessings of Goddess Bhuvaneswary.
