SN Puram Sree Subrahmanya Swami Temple, located
about 1 km from Vazhithala town in Idukki, is a well-known spiritual centre
with deep local significance. Popularly referred to as “Paarel Ambalam” by the
locals, the temple derives its name from its unique setting atop a rocky
formation (“paara” meaning rock). The presiding deity of the temple is Sree
Subrahmanya, and it also houses sub-deities including Ganapathy, Bhagavathy,
and Nagaraja. The temple celebrates its main festival during the Makaram month,
marked by the Uthram Ulsavam, which is observed over three days with devotion
and traditional rituals.
