This temple is at Pattambi in Palakkad
district. It is believed that a Brahmin lady prayed to Lord Subrahmanya to
bless her with a child, and she had a baby. Her husband brought home an idol of
Lord Subrahmanya when he returned from his travels and started worshipping it.
Later, it was consecrated in a temple so that others could also worship the
Lord. On the left of Subrahmanya is
Ganapathy. Lord Sastha is also present here with Prabha and Sathya. Vishnu is
consecrated as Narasimhamoorthy. Observation of austerities on the day of
Shashti is very important here. The story behind the observation of Shashti
more
is
that Subrahmanya became a serpent to atone for the sin of arresting Lord
Brahma. Goddess Parvathy started observing Shashti as per the instruction of
Mahadeva in order to get her son Subrahmanya back. Hence, it is observed for the
welfare of children and for protection from serpents.
