This temple is under the Enamalloor mana, one
of the nine who control the rituals at the Kootal Manikyam temple in Irinjalakuda. It was surrounded by deep forest in the past. There are two legends regarding the temple.
One says that the Sivalinga was self-originated. The other says that there was
a Devi temple here. This Devi was invoked into a cane and consecrated at the
place known as Ayyankavu. Later, the Namboothiri of the mana consecrated his
deity, Lord Siva, there. The sanctum is round with two levels. Devotees worship
here to get a good marriage alliance and a good life, and

to do well in the
educational field. The old temple is being renovated.
