This temple is at Karanthoor in the Kozhikode
district. It is believed to be 2000
years old. Sree Parvathy, Sree Lakshmy and Sree Saraswathy are present in the self-originated
idol here, believed to be in the form in which they approached Anasooya
Devi. The temple is in the middle of a 10-acre
forest. It is believed that when Sree Hanuman was carrying the mountain
with Mruthasanjeevani to the battlefield in Sri Lanka, a portion of the
Vrishabha mountain fell, and this was developed into the fort that is seen here.
As the effulgence of Hanuman is seen here, he too has been consecrated and
worshipped here. Lord

Hanuman stands facing the west, protecting the temple.
There are many medicinal plants here, equivalent to the Mruthasanjeevani, and
the fort is equivalent to Maruthwamala. The water in the pond is medicinal and
considered as effective as nectar itself. The temple lay neglected for a long
time,e but the effulgence was revealed to some women who had gone there to pluck
arrowroot. The self-originated idol is consecrated open to the sky. Every year, the flood waters immerse the temple in it. Many monkeys are seen there, and feeding
them is an offering to the Goddess. The water in the pond is considered sacred, and pudding made with arrowroot is one of the foremost offerings here. All
these verify the truth of the legends about the origin of the temple. The main
subordinate deity is Vettekkaran, consecrated to the north of the sanctum.
Devotees worship here for getting good education, prosperity and a good married
life. Renovation work is underway to make it more convenient for the devotees
to worship here.
