Subramanya Swamy Temple Thrikkariyoor

History

Sree Subramanya Swamy Temple, Thrikkariyoor, situated near Kothamangalam in Ernakulam district of Kerala, is a traditional Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Subrahmanya (Murugan). The temple stands close to the ancient Mahadeva Temple of Thrikkariyoor, and together they form an important centre of Shaiva–Subrahmanya worship in the region. According to temple tradition, the idol of Lord Subrahmanya has been consecrated following the Thevaram-based ritual and devotional principles. Although the temple was newly constructed in 2016, it has quickly gained spiritual prominence among devotees. Owing to the believed divine power and blessings of the deity, the shrine is often locally compared to the renowned Palani Murugan Temple. Major festivals celebrated more here include Thaippooyam, Skanda Sashti, and special monthly poojas. During these occasions, devotees gather in large numbers to seek protection, courage, removal of obstacles, and the well-being of their children. Today, the temple serves as a vibrant spiritual centre for the surrounding community, with active participation in its festivals, rituals, and devotional activities.
