This temple is at Kllampally Street in Vazhapally, Thiruvanandapuram. It is also known as the Kallampally Sastha temple. It is near the famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple and is considered to be older than that. It is believed that Maharaja Marthandavarma, the ruler of Travancore at that time, had constructed this temple to worship and please Saneeswara when there were obstructions in the work on the Padmanabhaswamy temple. Siva and Sastha are consecrated in the same sanctum. Sastha is seen holding a Sivalingam in his right hand. It is believed to signify that Shastha is worshipping Lord Siva. That is why this consecration is named Markandeswara. Hence, rituals more like Saneeswara Homam and Neeranjanam, meant for Saneeswar, are performed here. Devi as Rajarajeswari, Ganapathy and Nava grahas are also consecrated in this temple. This is the only temple where devotees can perform anointment of the idol of Saneeswara among the Navagrahas with gingelly oil. The temple was renovated in 2010.
