Pampayimoola Sree Krishna Swamy Temple

History

This temple is at Pampayimoola, Edakochi, in Ernakulam district. It was the time when temples were opened up to all Hindus. Taking inspiration from the consecration at Aruvipuram by Sree Narayana Guru in 1904, people in different places wanted to have the freedom to worship in temples. In Palluruthy, they were allowed to worship in the Azhakiyakavu Devi temple one day every year. The people of Edakochi wanted to do this every day and approached the Maharaja of Kochi. The King allotted some land near the Kochu Palam. The men who were looking for an idol liked one of Lord Krishna and consecrated it at this more place. They were also given the right to take the coconuts from the palms on the side of the national highway to meet the expenses of the temple. The management has been with Edakochi Sree Krishna Dharmaparipalana Yogam since 1930.
