The temple is situated at Pangode, the Cantonment area of the Indian Army in Thiruvananthapuram. The State Forces of Travancore had their garrisons near the old Cantonment area in Thiruvananthapuram. When it was shifted to Pangode in 1935 the soldiers wanted a place of worship and the temple with Lord Hanuman, Lord Siva, and Lord Vishnu. Lord Ganapathy and Nagaraja were established at the new place. The idol of Lord Siva has a long history of being worshipped for 175 years. During an exercise of the Nair Brigade in 1836 they found the idol of Siva under a peepul tree at Aaruvaamozhi in Kanyakumari more district. The troops started worshipping the idol when they were on duty there. The idol was shifted to Pangode in 1940. At first, the idol of Hanuman from the Cantonment area could not be shifted to Pangode as the local people objected to it. So, the soldiers kept a photo of the Lord.
