Sree Poilath Siva Temple

History

Sree Poilath Siva Temple is located at Vavanoor and is a traditional Kerala-style Siva temple believed to be over 3,000 years old. The presiding deity is Lord Siva. Within the temple complex, Ganapathy and Mahavishnu are worshipped as sub-deities, while Sastha and the Nagas are installed outside the temple complex. Daily poojas are conducted in the morning and evening. Maha Sivarathri is the most important festival celebrated here and is organised by the temple committee with great devotion and grandeur. All vazhipaadu offerings related to Lord Siva can be performed at this temple. Devotees from many places visit this sacred temple throughout the year. The temple is more set amidst vast paddy fields, adding to its natural beauty and serene atmosphere. Surrounded by a compound wall, the ancient Hindu temple structure offers a deep sense of spirituality. The temple also has a sacred pond, where devotees traditionally take a bath before entering the temple for prayers and chanting.
