Moorkkath Vishnu Temple is located at Cherpulassery in Palakkad district, Kerala, and functions as a Keezhedam (subsidiary shrine) of the renowned Thirumallappalli Mahadeva Kshethram. Until recent times, both the vigraha and the sreekovil of the temple were in a severely dilapidated condition. Moved by the poor state of the shrine, devoted worshippers came together to form a Kshetra Renovation Committee. With the collective efforts of the committee, the Devaswom Board, the Oorala families, and the wholehearted support of the local community, the temple and the deity were renovated strictly in accordance with the principles of Thantra Shasta. The renovation was carried out under the guidance of the
more renowned Thanthri Andaladi. Traditionally, the deity was believed to be Vamana, an incarnation of Maha Vishnu. However, detailed Devaprashna rituals conducted on two occasions clearly established that the dhyana is that of Narasimha, another powerful incarnation of Maha Vishnu. The Prathishta Dhyana depicts Narasimha in a serene and compassionate form, prepared to grant the wishes of his devoted follower Prahlada. It is firmly believed that sincere prayers offered at Moorkkath Vishnu Temple bless devotees with the fulfilment of their wishes, making it a spiritually significant and deeply revered place of worship in the region.
