The Ayyappa Temple, located in Kuzhuppilly, is situated near the beautiful coastal stretch that extends from Kuzhuppilly to Munambam in Ernakulam district, where the Periyar River meets the Arabian Sea. The temple was originally established in 1930, and during its early renovation, a panchaloham (five-metal alloy) idol of Swami Ayyappa was consecrated. The temple underwent further renovation in 1964, followed by a complete reconstruction in 2003, which gave it its current form. Lord Ayyappa is worshipped here as Sabarimala Sasta (Dharma Sastha), facing east. The temple is widely known for its spirit of communal harmony and remains open to all devotees, irrespective of caste or
more religion.
