Thondankulangara Sree Mahadeva
Temple, located in Thondankulangara, Alappuzha, is a renowned temple believed
to be around 2,000 years old. The presiding deity is Lord Mahadeva (Shiva), who
symbolises moksha—liberation from the cycle of birth and death—and is part of the Hindu Trinity, along with Brahma and Vishnu. The temple also houses several
sub-deities, including Ganapathy, Murukan, Ayyappan, Naga Yakshi, Naga Raja,
Durga, and Rakshas. The annual temple festival and Maha Shivaratri are major
celebrations that attract large numbers of devotees every year.
