In the heart of Quilon town stands

disciples. The same Bhadrakali of Kalighat at Calcutta worshipped by Sree Rama
Krishna Paramahamsa and Vivekananda Swamy is sitting in this temple in 'Sivaa'
(Parvathy) assumption. Devi Chaithanya' (The vigour) is increasing day by day
as all the rituals and rites are done here scientifically, as per Thanthric
stipulations and with dedication and sincerity. Now this is also one of the
Maha temples (big) in Kerala. Eight days festival is celebrated with all
scientific rituals during the month Meenam and Arattu on star Makam. Pongala

thousands of ladies symbolizing their mental contribution by feeding pongala to
Devi and attaining relief. Year by year the number of people attending this
function is increasing. 'Manjaneerattu'(yellow bathing) and "Karakam'

come to make this offering. They light wicks in lemon pieces and pray to
Goddess by singing and request for all sorts of reliefs. Guruthy pooja is a
main offering on all Tuesday to Devi which give relief from diseases and attacks
from rivals and grants the attainment of wishes. This is also done by thousands
of devotees on hearing about the positive results from others who have already
experienced it. The number of persons coming to this temple is increasing day
by day. Sub deities are Sri Parameswara,
Ganapathy, Durga, Sastha, Hanuman Swamy, Brahma rakshas, Yogeswaraswamy, Madan

as per rules. Another special and important pooja of Puthiyakavu is 'Kanyaka
Pooja' on 'Durgashtami and "Saubhagya Pooja' on Makam of Karkidakam. All
these poojas and the Vilakkupooja during Pournamy (full moon) day attract large
numbers of lady devotees to the temple. Every Sunday at 10 am for the fulfilment
of desires Abbishta Bhalasidhi Yenjam is performed and Annadana is given to
