Thrippadapuram Mahadeva Temple, located in Kulathoor, Thiruvananthapuram, is closely linked to a famous legend associated with Villwamangalathu Swamiyar. It is believed that when the Swamiyar had the divine vision of Lord Anantha Padmanabha, the deity appeared so enormous that he could not fully behold Him. To bless the devotee, Lord Padmanabha revealed Himself in three parts: the Head at Thiruvattar Temple near Thuckalay–Nagercoil, the Body at Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram, and the Holy Feet at Thrippadapuram, thus giving the place its name, “Thri” (sacred) + Paadam (feet). The sacred footprints of both Lord Krishna and Lord Padmanabha are worshipped here. Near the footprints is a small, eye-shaped
more well carved into the rock. According to local belief, anything dropped into this well will mysteriously reach the nearby temple pond. As devotees often test this belief by dropping various items, a protective net is now placed over the opening.
