Thamarakulam Sree Maha Ganapathy Temple is located in the heart of Kollam city, near the Kollam Civil Station. The main deity is Lord Ganapathy, with Nagaraja and Swami Ayyappan as sub-deities. Temple’s priestly duties are carried out by the Tamil Brahmin community of Kollam Corporation, comprising around 270 families. Appam and Modakam are the primary offerings here. The annual Vinayaka Chathurthi festival, celebrated in August, features rituals such as Ashta Dravya Maha Ganapathy Homam, Kalashapooja, Laksharchana and Pushpabhishekam. Known as one of Kerala’s prominent Ganapathy temples, it welcomes devotees from all communities. Unniyappam is also specially prepared and offered.
