History

Located in Badiyadka, the Kedenji Mahavishnu Temple is one of the oldest and most revered temples in the Kasaragod district. Believed to have been built over a thousand years ago, the temple carries a rich historical legacy and is said to have been under the patronage of the Ikkeri dynasty. The presiding deity is Lord Mahavishnu, while the sub-deities include Vana Shastha (also known as Ayyappa), Subramanya, and Ganapathi. Reflecting the cultural essence of Tulunadu, the temple also features the worship of local deities such as Raktheshwari and Dhoomavathi. Among the various offerings, Haalu Payasam, a sweet preparation made from milk, sugar, and white rice, is more particularly popular among devotees.
