Pazhuvil Subramanya Temple, situated in Chazhoor village along the Thrissur–Thriprayar road in Thrissur district, Kerala, is an ancient shrine managed by the Cochin Devaswom Board under the Pazhuvam Devaswom. Believed to be approximately 2,000 years old, the temple is dedicated to Lord Subramanya and holds significant historical and cultural importance. Though its exact origins remain uncertain, one popular legend attributes its consecration to the Chera dynasty. Over the centuries, the temple’s administration has transitioned from the Paliath Achan and Nampoothiri families to the Cochin Sarkar, and later to the Cochin Devaswom Board. The temple’s major festival, Shashti, is celebrated with great devotion and marked by the
more vibrant folk art form of Kavadi Aattam.
