The Kunnathery Sree Krishna
Temple is situated to the east of Chalissery in the Palakkad district of
Kerala. The presiding deity enshrined here is Sree Krishnan. According to
traditional accounts, the renowned saint Vilwamangalam Swamiyar, during his
journey to Guruvayoor, passed through Chalissery. Enchanted by the melodious strains
of a flute, he traced the music to its source and was granted a vision of Sree
Krishnan. In reverence to this divine manifestation, he established a temple at
the very site. This event is traditionally believed to have occurred in the
17th century AD.
