Pazhayannur Bhagavathy Temple is situated between the Mattancherry Palace and the Paradesi Synagogue in Kochi, Ernakulam, Kerala. The deity worshipped here, Goddess Bhagavathi, is revered as Vaishnava Durga, although some devotees consider her to be Goddess Annapurna. The temple features a Kannadi Prathishta (mirror installation), with the deity facing east. This temple is the ancestral deity, or Paradevata, of the Kochi royal family. Located adjacent to the Mattancherry Palace—built around 1555 as a gift to the King of Kochi by the Portuguese—the temple enjoys royal patronage. It shares a wall with the Paradesi Jewish Synagogue, symbolising the religious tolerance and intercultural harmony that characterised the region during that
more era. Members of the Kochi royal family frequently visit the Pazhayanur Bhagavathy Temple to offer prayers.
